Book of Philippians : 1: 12 to 2:1-13
Philippians 1:12-14
[12]But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,
[13]so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ;
[14]and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
-he is in prison because of spreading the gospel
-he is like this because of what is said as below verse
Philippians 1:21
[21]For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
-due to this many have rise up to spread the gospel
Philippians 1:15-18
[15]Some indeed preach Christ even from envy and strife, and some also from goodwill:
[16]The former preach Christ from selfish ambition, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my chains;
[17]but the latter out of love, knowing that I am appointed for the defense of the gospel.
[18]What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretense or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice. To Live Is Christ
-many are happy bcoz I’m in prison and spreading the gospel
-so are sad coz I’m in prison and doing
-but whatever it is Paul is happy
-so we too need to think abt what is the motive of us spreading the word
-Paul’s attitude was rejoicing for this entire Philippians
Philippians 1:19-21
[19]For I know that this will turn out for my deliverance through your prayer and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
[20]according to my earnest expectation and hope that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ will be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death.
[21]For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
-Paul says if he is still alive to spread God’s word then he is happy
-he says that while he is alive he will live to spread the word
-whatever happen I live for him, so that I can stand as a testimony in front of Ceaser.
-even in sufferings Paul is still rejoicing n glorifying the lord
Philippians 1:22-24
[22]But if I live on in the flesh, this will mean fruit from my labor; yet what I shall choose I cannot tell.
[23]For I am hard-pressed between the two, having a desire to depart and be with Christ, which is far better.
[24]Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
-Paul is having a conflict if he will live or die
-and with strength of my flesh i will spread the word
Proverbs 23:7
[7]For as he thinks in his heart, so is he. “Eat and drink!” he says to you, But his heart is not with you.
Philippians 1:24-26
[24]Nevertheless to remain in the flesh is more needful for you.
[25]And being confident of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy of faith,
[26]that your rejoicing for me may be more abundant in Jesus Christ by my coming to you again. Striving and Suffering for Christ
-if i have a chance to live i will be happy to meet all at Philippians church
-he is giving motivation to them
-he says he will rejoice
Philippians 1:27
[27]Only let your conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ, so that whether I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel,
-he is unsure if he can come, so he ask them to be one flesh
-he wants unity in the church
-because there will be many obstacles when spreading the word
-god need to prompt us of whom to speak the word
-we need prayers n support for us to do this
-we need to be in one flesh n spirit to fight the evil ones
-this have been done before by the Philippians so they need to ne united to do it continually
Philippians 1:28-29
[28]and not in any way terrified by your adversaries, which is to them a proof of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that from God.
-we don’t have to fear those who oppose u, bcoz u have Christ with u
Philippians 1:29-30
[29]For to you it has been granted on behalf of Christ, not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for His sake,
[30]having the same conflict which you saw in me and now hear is in me.
-so he says its not easy to spread the word, but Christ has given u the suffering to spread it
-he say he also have suffering
Philippians 2:1-2
[1]Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy,
[2]fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.
-comfort, love, mercy n fellowship
-this talks abt unity
-likeminded to spread the word
1 Corinthians 4:7
[7]For who makes you differ from another? And what do you have that you did not receive? Now if you did indeed receive it, why do you boast as if you had not received it?
Philippians 2:3-4
[3]Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself.
[4]Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. The Humbled and Exalted Christ
-whatever we do, do in humility
Colossians 2:23
[23]These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.
-we think we are humble, but it only indulge in flesh but not spirit
-so in Christ we keep all these
-spiritual lie are still prideful

-Jesus was a very nature of God, he is equal with go
John 17:5
[5]And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.

[15]He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.
[7]but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
-he humbles himself n took the image of slave n became man.
Hebrews 10:5
[5]Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, But a body You have prepared for Me.
[8]And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
-he humbled himself till death on cross
-he subjected himself to the law

[3]For what the law could not do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, on account of sin: He condemned sin in the flesh,

[18]No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father.”
-he emptied himself
[9]Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
-so that is why jesus was exalted
-because of his obedience n humbleness he was exalted
Ephesians 4:10
[10]He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.
