Better than Gold ( Proverbs 3:13-14)

Reflection:

Return on Investment (ROI) is the key word for any investment related talks. We talk about how much we would be able to earn through our time, resources and money invested and that defines whether its worth investing. The investment world is not new to risk taking, every cent invested is always exposed to market risks. The most valuable thing to invest is our time in the presence of God. When we spend our time in His presence, we grow in His Wisdom. This Wisdom helps us to live a fulfilling life leading us to eternal life.

Illustration:

“He came to college far ahead, spiritually, of any of us. He had already given his heart in full surrender to Christ and had really done it. We who were his classmates learned to lean on him and find in him a strength that was solid as a rock, just because of this settled purpose and consecration.” These were the words of William Borden’s class mates. Borden who was a millionaire, left all his wealth to pursue the most important thing he had been called and lived a fulfilling life spending time in the presence of the Lord.

Application:

We all know about the phrase, All that glitters is not gold, what if we understand that Gold itself is not glittery. Gold has been a valuable metal that over generations man has been seeking to acquire. There is something more valuable that Gold and that is the Wisdom of God.  In Matthew 16:26 we understand that above every worldly thing we need to safeguard our soul and that is through gaining Gods wisdom and understanding the way to live our life. That is the only path to eternal life.

Call to Devotion:

Do we know God personally in our life? Let us not get stagnant in our relationship with God, stagnancy makes us drift away from God and we get caught easily with the things of the world becoming more like the world and ignoring the Source of all blessings that comes through his Wisdom.

Let us align our life and our path towards God so that we can receive his blessings and that is more important than anything of this world can give or satisfy.
