Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matt 5:14 to 16)

People are living in darkness, ie., without any purpose and hope. They engulf in gaming, clubbing, and many other addictions and searching for love, security, and identity. You are the beacon of light in your world. Here the word ‘world’ doesn’t mean the geographic location, but the people who matter to you the most. For me, my world is my family, neighbors, friends, and peers. Come, let us medicate this verse.

You are the light of the world: Jesus said, “As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (Jn 9:5) After his ascension to Heaven, He has passed the torch to us. Now you and me are the light of the world. Once you were darkness, but Jesus redeemed and set you free from your bondages, isn’t it? Be the light to lead the way…

Let people see your good works: Your good works should be evident to the people around you just like the city on a hill and a lighted lamp. It can be a small deed like being there when your friend needs you or saying a word of encouragement or helping them in little ways. Let your presence change the atmosphere for good.

Let people see Jesus in you and praise GOD: Remember people are watching you, I mean observing you. Put on the LORD Jesus Christ, and do not satisfy the desires of the flesh. (Rom 13:14) Fight the good fight of faith. (1 Tim 6:12) Shine brighter and brighter day by day.

Reflect and personalize GOD’s word in your life:

  1. Identify the areas that your light is not burning or dim. Note down the first few things that come to your mind now.
  2. Repent and reconcile with GOD.
  3. Identify the good works that you can do and start doing them.

Prayer

Eternal GOD and Loving Heavenly Father, thank you for sending Jesus Christ as our Savior. Help us to receive the light from your word every day and radiate the light and do good works out of love and glorify your name in all our deeds. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

For at one time you were darkness, but now you are light in the LORD. Walk as children of light (Eph 5:8)

Jesus loves you and Blessed day!
