Wisdom of the World (1 Corinthians 3:18-20)
Reflection:
Many times we evaluate people around us based on our limited understanding and knowledge tending to always find fault with others ignoring our very own shortcomings. We are obsessed with the outer covering and ignore the actual motives.
Personal Story:
I was preparing myself for a interview and one of my close friend was emphasizing on the need to dress sharply and impress others as there is a popular saying First Impression is the best impression and judging the book by its cover. Having spent more than a decade in the retail industry I too was vouching for the way things are presented. It’s not wrong to focus on outward presentation but just outward presentation would not take us through. We need in-depth knowledge and that comes through experience, understanding the concepts and working on it.
Practical Application:
As we prepare to attend the church where is our time we are spending? Is it just on the outward appearance or are we preparing our hearts to receive his Word. Let us today prioritise the most important thing that is to prepare ourselves to spend time in His Presence and then comes everything else. Let us understand that we are the church and let us be prepared in every day of our life staying in his presence to receive his Wisdom and be overcomers of this world through the WORD.
Call to Devotion:
In Matthew 23:25 Jesus condemns the Teachers of the law as hypocrites, being clean on the outside and dead bones on the inside. Today Let us ask God to clean our hearts and ask God to pour out his Wisdom so that all hypocrisy and wickedness are removed from our life and we embrace God wholeheartedly.
