Lord gives Wisdom (Proverbs 2:6)
Reflection:
Wisdom is a God given gift. It is for those who seek upon Him.
The source and starting point of Wisdom is God and through his Word which gives us knowledge and understanding.
Today God’s gift to us is His Wisdom, but the question for us is Do we seek it? If Yes, How do we seek it ? Do we seek it like Solomon who humbles himself before God and say that he is only a little child ( 1Kings 3:7) and asks God with a earnest heart (v9). God blesses Solomon with Wisdom because of his thirst for Wisdom.
Illustration:
Hudson Taylor was a prayer warrior and a faith giant. He was able to speak several Chinese dialects and helped to translate the new testament into the dialect used in Shanghai, where he spent many years of his life. Unlike many European missionaries, Taylor was careful of Chinese culture, respecting their way of life and even adopting their clothing. He faced sickness and loss with a spirit of unshaken trust, leaving behind a legacy that has inspired thousands of missionaries in all corners of the world. In his own words, “All God’s giants have been weak men, who did great things for God because they reckoned on His being with them.” When we understand that our knowledge is limited and we need God to complete whatever he has started we see mighty and miraculous things being done through the Wisdom of God.
Application:
We might have thousands of strategies and ideas to work out things. There might be Plan A and Plan B in our lives to face the uncertainties that might arise.
Let us come to a basic understanding that no matter how many plans or Strategies we have on hand it is God’s plan that comes to pass. To identify it and work through it, we need to set aside all our knowledge and skills and ask for God’s Wisdom.
There is no second plan, there is only one plan which is the plan of God and we would be able to walk in His plan when we open our eyes and walk through the leading of His Wisdom in our life.
Call to devotion:
Today in all our decisions let us ask God for his Wisdom so that we don’t get deceived in to believing what our eyes see or our mind believes.
Let us seek God’s Wisdom and guidance in our daily lives to see through things, not just the top layer and avoid getting ourselves in to any unwanted troubles or awkward situations.
