Speak Wisdom (Proverbs 10:31)

Reflection:

Every word we speak comes from our inner desire and motives. It exposes the condition of our heart and where we stand in our relationship with God and the world. The righteous speaks words that leads others towards the path of life.

Personal Story:

When faced with a question on how the food tastes, I sugar coated my answer depicting the taste of the food was awesome. It was a blatant lie. Many times we try to please people through our words knowing that they are not true. Let us not sugar coat but be genuine in our answers. It helps to understand where we truly stand and through our words for people to understand where they need to grow.

Application:

How can we speak Wisdom? We need to fill our heart with God’s word so as to speak out from our heart. Today let us ask ourselves. What is in the vault of my heart? I can hide it from people and sugar coat it but I know what truly is inside me. Death and Life are in the words of our tongue. Let us choose to fill our heart with words of life so we can speak life.

Call to Devotion:

In Matthew 12:33-37, we need to understand that the state of our heart cannot be solved by just cleaning up our words. It can be dealt only by allowing God to cleanse and fill our hearts, so that we can have new attitudes and God centric motives. Let us focus on the source of our words and ensure our source receives from the creator and not from the created.
