Christ the Wisdom of God  (1 Cor 1:24-25)

Reflection :

Today the good news of Jesus Christ is still considered foolish to many. Jesus came as a humble being to offer his Kingdom to those who put faith in HIM and not by good works. This is against the imagination of many in this world as it tries to earn it by works and not through faith. This makes them to reject Jesus outright and assume themselves wise in their own eyes. In fact knowing Christ personally and putting our faith in HIM is the greatest wisdom anyone could have.

Personal Story:

“I am telling you, if there is a God, when I get to heaven I’m not stopping to be interviewed. I am heading straight in,” said New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg in a interview after he had donated 50 Million dollars for gun control lobby group. Today many in the world believe that a place in heaven can be bought by their wealth, their works or by their good deeds. They fail to understand that eternal life is for those who believe in Christ which is a gift from God. This is the wisdom that God’s Children stand upon.

Application:

Today the world teaches us about rational thinking. It pushes to think based on logic, facts and data. As HIS children are we being driven by data, facts or logic in our faith, if YES then we are missing the point. No amount of knowledge can replace or bypass Christ’s work on the cross. It is time to remove our data driven mind, rational thinking and replace it with the mind of Christ and put our Faith in HIM.

Call to Devotion:

Abraham obeyed God and his faith towards God was counted as righteousness. In Romans Chapter 4 we see how Abraham’s life was marked by mistakes, sins and failures as well as by wisdom and goodness. If  Abraham had looked at his own resources to do what God commanded he would have given up in despair. But Abraham looked to God, obeyed him and waited for God to fulfil the word. As His children let us not look towards the world but ask God for his Wisdom to continue to build our faith in God and grow closer in our relationship every passing day of our life.
