The Voice of Wisdom ( Proverbs 8:1-11)

Reflection:

What do we search for in our life? We might search for Wealth, Comfort, Protection and Health in this world. We fail to understand that all that we do without having the wisdom of God would be like running a race in every direction we seem fit through our eyes. It might seem that earthly blessings is all we need but we fail to understand that without the wisdom all that we store up and gain in this world is futile.

Personal Story:

We were out as a family in the beach, and it was a time of fun for my kids. They love playing building sandcastle and wasted no time to start building one. I advised them to build it a bit farther from the shore as the waters were unsettled. They ignored the instruction and continued with their building. As they were completing their castle suddenly the waters came up and swallowed their castle. All their time spent in building their castle went in vain. This small incident reflected many decisions in my life where despite God calling me to hear his instructions and follow HIM, I have run away in search for worldly things only to fall down and get bruised.

Application:

It takes the wisdom of God to navigate through our life. God teaches us, corrects us and rebukes us, we need to understand it is not to destroy us but to build us up in Him. HE is willing to give his Wisdom, the question is, are we ready to remove all our perceived thoughts and receive his instructions with all humility.

Call to devotion:

In the book of Daniel Chapter 1, we see how Daniel despite the offering of Choice Food and Drink chose not to defile himself. Daniel found a way to live by God’s standards in a culture that did not honour God. Daniel was wise to resist the temptations offered and chose to grow in the presence of the Lord. The king after talking to them found none equal to Daniel. Today let us choose for things above and see God guiding us and raising us above.
