Embracing Instruction ( Proverbs 12:1)
Reflection :
No matter how many years of Schooling if we don’t have the mind to learn its futile. But at the same time if we go to school with the thirst to acquire knowledge there is no limit to gaining knowledge. This means that willing to learn includes willing to accept discipline and correction and to learn from the wisdom of others. When we reject learning, it might be due to no eagerness to learn or pride, it stops us from growing.
Personal Story:
During my early days I struggled to wake up on time for prayer, Many times I knowingly skipped my prayers because of my struggle to get out of bed. It was because of my undisciplined life. Slowly I had to work things around and came up with an order of things and prioritizing the important things. This enabled me to get up early and to spend time in the presence of the Lord. Now when I look back, I ask this question, Was it easy? Absolutely Not, But it was worth every effort because it had pushed me to grow in my relationship with God. It has enabled me to spend time alone with God when my kids are fast asleep and that has had a bigger positive impact in my spiritual life and there had been a inner transformation in the way I lived my life.
Practical Application :
Living a life of discipline is never easy, it takes consistent effort, self-control and to resist the temptations that come along the way. Today let us take the first step towards discipline. Are we going to Church late? let us take a decision to go on time. Let us understand that our God is a God of Discipline. Let us not be just talkers but doers. And let it start with the things that we do it for God first and we see how our life turns out beautifully.
Call to devotion :
Let us not get settled down by the pressure of our schedules or pressures of the world cutting down into our prayer time but discipline ourselves to first seek God in our life.
He gives us the wisdom to navigate through the path of life no matter whatever the situation or whoever raises against you , God raises you when you Honour God.
