Acts 2:5-13
Jews from every nation were staying in Jerusalem, filled with anticipation for the festival. Suddenly, a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven. Tongues of fire separated and came to rest on each of the apostles, enabling them to speak in different languages, languages they had never learned before. The people were amazed at hearing their native tongues spoken so fluently by these Galileans.
Share HIS Message
The first thing we notice is that the Spirit enabled the disciples to speak the languages of the people gathered. This was a powerful act of God that the message of the Gospel is for all people. No matter our background or native tongue, the message of Christ crucified and resurrected transcends all barriers.
We face many barriers, whether linguistic, cultural or ideological barriers. Yet,with the Holy Spirit’s help, we can be bridge-builders and peace-makers, sharing the message of God’s love with our actions and words.
Boldness
The apostles went from hiding in fear to boldly declaring God’s wonders in public. What happened? The Holy Spirit empowered them, turning their fear into boldness and timidity into strength.
We all have fears that hold us back from living out our faith openly and courageously, fear of rejection, fear of failure, fear of inadequacy.
But just as God empowered the apostles, He empowers us too. With God on our side, we can approach our challenges with confidence, knowing He goes before us.
Community
The people gathered were confused and asked, “What does this mean?” Some even mocked the apostles, thinking they were drunk. Yet, this event laid the foundation for a new community anchored in love and unity.
We are called to be a community that reflects the love of Christ. A place where everyone belongs. Despite the confusion and judgment we might face from the world, we must continue to love and support one another, remembering that we are one body in Christ.
What can i do ?
Reach out to someone you haven’t connected with in a while. Offer a listening ear. Let your light shine, even in small acts.
Step out in faith and do something with bolder faith, knowing the Holy Spirit is empowering and guiding you.
