Reflection
Romans 12:1-2 says,Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Paul begins by reminding us of God’s mercy, which is the foundation of our faith. His mercy invites us to respond with a life of worship and not just in songs or rituals, but by offering our very selves as living sacrifices.
This means dedicating every aspect of our lives to God’s purposes. The challenge, then, is not to be conformed to the patterns of this world, which often distract us from spiritual growth, but to be transformed through the renewing of our minds.
Personal Story
I recall a friend of mine, he shared this with me. He said : There was a time when I struggled to understand what it truly meant to be transformed by the renewing of my mind. Daily routines and societal pressures often led me to conform to ways contrary to my faith.
As I consistently spent time in Scripture and prayer, I began to notice changes in how I perceived the world around me. I started to see others through the lens of compassion and grace, and decisions became clearer through discerning prayer.
